These terms apply when you use surnamestory.org, our downloads, emails and members area (together, "the site"), run by Surname Story. By using the site you agree to them. We've kept them as short and clear as we can.

1. Using the site

The site is for adults aged 18 and over. Please use it kindly and lawfully, and don't try to disrupt the site or get into areas you shouldn't.

2. Your account

You sign in with a link we email to you, so keep your email account secure and don't share sign-in links. You're responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

3. Our content and downloads

• All our products, videos, designs and logos belong to Surname Story.
• You're welcome to print our downloads for yourself, your family, and non-commercial groups such as clubs, classes, libraries and care home residents.
• Please don't sell, republish or share our files online (for example, uploading them to another website) without our written permission.

4. Purchases

When we offer paid products or memberships, the price and what's included will be shown clearly before you pay. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Any refund terms will be shown before you buy, and these don't affect any rights you have by law.

5. Accuracy

We check our content carefully, but mistakes can happen – if you spot one, please tell us and we'll fix it. Nothing on the site is professional advice of any kind.

6. YouTube and other services

Our videos are published on YouTube, which has its own terms and privacy policy. We're not responsible for other websites we link to.

7. Your ideas and messages

If you send us ideas, questions or feedback, you agree we may use them to improve the site, without any obligation to you.

8. Our responsibility

We work hard to keep the site running smoothly, but we provide it "as is" and can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law that can't be limited.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and if a change is important we'll let members know by email.
